Sr. Software Engineer

About the Opportunity

An established, high-traffic consumer e-commerce platform is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to drive the evolution of its core user experience web applications. This role focuses on optimizing how millions of global users explore, search, and interact with seller inventories. The incoming engineer will join a highly collaborative, multi-disciplinary product organization that leverages data and iterative testing to build low-friction, high-performance web experiences.

This is a six month contract role that may extend or convert to full-time depending on the needs of the client. The compensation range for the role is $70 to $78 per hour.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and optimize scalable full-stack web applications that streamline product discovery and user search workflows.

• Collaborate closely with product managers, UX designers, data analysts, and researchers to shape team roadmaps and technical execution strategies.

• Take complete ownership of engineering initiatives, translating ambiguous or loosely scoped product ideas into stable production code.

• Improve platform architecture and underlying performance metrics to pave the way for next-generation consumer features.

• Utilize quantitative data and qualitative user insights to continuously iterate on features and enhance the buyer journey.

• Actively engage in engineering mentorship, collaborative code reviews, and technical knowledge sharing across the development team.

Requirements (Must-Have)

• Professional Experience: 5+ years of verified expertise in professional web application development.

• Technical Stack: Proven proficiency building applications with server-side engineering (PHP, MySQL) and modern client-side environments (JavaScript, TypeScript, and React).

• Execution: Demonstrated ability to adapt swiftly to existing codebases and deliver high-quality solutions independently with minimal supervision.

• Product Collaboration: Comfortable partnering with product and design stakeholders to provide scoping estimates, technical feasibility assessments, and innovative feature ideas.

• Ownership Mindset: A proven history of managing software features through their entire lifecycle, from initial concept to deployment.

• Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills characterized by transparency, clarity, and a mindful approach to teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

• Familiarity with distributed data processing systems (such as Scala or Apache Airflow) or a foundational understanding of machine learning models and recommendation engines.

• A strong passion for product-centric engineering, proving equally dedicated to solving customer-facing challenges as to writing elegant, performant code.

• Experience working in an experimentation-driven development ecosystem (A/B testing, user interviews).

This is a remote, work from home position. This role is to be filled outside the states of California and Colorado.
