About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Business Intelligence Engineer to support a Cyber Programme on an initial 1-year fixed-term contract.
You'll play a key role in delivering the programme's business intelligence, data and reporting requirements, working across data modelling, ETL development, Power BI and the Databricks/Lakehouse platform. Report writing and development will be a critical part of the position, with the successful candidate responsible for producing the reporting required by the programme.
This is a hands-on technical role with no team or line management responsibilities. You'll work directly with business users to understand their information and reporting needs, define requirements and translate these into meaningful reporting solutions rather than simply building to predefined specifications.

You Should Have
- Strong experience delivering business intelligence and reporting solutions
- Experience working directly with business users to gather and define reporting and data requirements
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Experience working across large and complex systems environments
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders
- Strong analytical capability with the ability to identify improvement opportunities
- Substantial relevant computing and technical experience
Technical Requirements
Must Have
- Strong data modelling experience, including multi-dimensional and relational modelling
- ETL development and data transformation experience
- Power BI development experience
- Databricks / Lakehouse platform experience
- Strong report writing and report development capability
- Experience planning, designing and implementing BI reporting systems
Key Responsibilities
- Design, model and maintain business intelligence solutions
- Produce reporting required by the Cyber Programme
- Develop Power BI reporting
- Undertake ETL design and development
- Perform data profiling, modelling, transformation and migration across large and complex environments
- Work within the Databricks / Lakehouse platform
- Gather and analyse reporting and data requirements from business users and stakeholders
- Work directly with stakeholders to define reporting requirements
- Determine information needs, relevant data sources and transformation rules
- Translate requirements into a development roadmap and meaningful reporting outputs
- Review the veracity of relevant external information sources
- Work with technical teams to maintain data integrity and security
- Support stakeholders seeking access to information and reporting
- Monitor improvements in data standards and governance across core organisational systems
- Develop and enhance BI and data analytics standards, processes, procedures and guidelines
- Identify opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with BI, database, solutions delivery and other relevant technical teams
