About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced GIS Foundation Specialist (Level 2 – Practitioner) to join a high-performing geospatial team on an initial 12-month contract.
In this role, you will support the delivery and sustainment of foundational geospatial datasets, products, and services. You will contribute to the production, maintenance, validation, and quality assurance of geospatial data and cartographic outputs, ensuring information remains accurate, reliable, and aligned with established standards and specifications.

The Responsibilities
  • Perform geospatial data production, capture, editing, and maintenance activities in accordance with established standards and specifications.
  • Conduct quality assurance and validation activities to ensure spatial data accuracy, consistency, and completeness.
  • Produce high-quality cartographic products, visualisations, and geospatial outputs to meet business requirements.
  • Support the management and maintenance of enterprise geospatial datasets and repositories.
  • Apply established workflows, methodologies, and processes for geospatial data production and governance.
  • Investigate and resolve data quality issues using standard GIS tools and techniques.
  • Contribute to documentation, procedural outputs, and quality reporting activities.
  • Support the delivery of enterprise geospatial capability outcomes through timely and accurate data production.
  • Assist with continuous improvement of geospatial workflows and production processes.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience working with structured datasets, specifications, and data schemas.
  • The ability to interpret and analyse geographic information to create accurate spatial datasets and mapping products.
  • Experience delivering work within established processes, standards, and governance frameworks.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently under general direction while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to producing high-quality, accurate, and reliable outputs.
  • Desirable Skills and Qualifications
  • Relevant vocational or tertiary qualification in Geospatial Science, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Surveying, Spatial Information, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proficiency using GIS software such as ArcGIS, ArcGIS Pro, SOCET GXP, or similar geospatial platforms.
  • Experience performing feature extraction (2D and 3D), data editing, and spatial data management.
  • Understanding of geospatial standards, data governance frameworks, and quality assurance practices.
  • Experience producing cartographic outputs to defined specifications and standards.
  • Knowledge of geospatial imaging systems, photogrammetry, or geomatics workflows.
  • Good stereo acuity to support imagery exploitation and photogrammetric activities.
  • Awareness or experience within Defence, intelligence, government, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Understanding of emerging GIS technologies, geospatial analytics, and enterprise spatial platforms.
