Electrical Engineer (Embedded Software - Shin Yokohama)

POSITION PROFILE

POSITION:

• Electrical Engineer – Nagoya, Gentex Japan

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

• Engineering development of new products with a focus on the applications engineering in Electrical field interface between Gentex and Customers.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Function as a central point for information and support for the Sales team for engineering product definition.
• Function as an interface between Gentex engineering and the customer in the communication of product definition.
• Support Program Management to communicate engineering product definition for product development and launch.
• Support Program Management, Product Marketing, and Sales with required technical information to help drive product sales.
• Support Program Management, Product Marketing, and Sales in the training and education on engineering product definition and function.
• Interface with Mechanical Engineering, Microelectronics, Applied Materials, and Manufacturing departments to support the execution of Electrical Engineering products.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain knowledge of company electrical, mechanical, test, and manufacturing practices and engineer consistent with them.
• Avoid company politics and promote cooperation and consensus teamwork for the common good of all employees across all departments.
• Performs other miscellaneous duties as required
•  

POSITION DEMANDS:

• Preferred B.S. degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
• Must have 5 or more years experience in electrical circuit design and product

development.

• Must have 3 or more years experience in developing with Japanese OEM directly such as design review.
• Bilingual - Japanese/English required. (TOEIC 630 or higher.)
• Preferred vehicle CAN development experience.
• Demonstrate good skills in communication, project scheduling, technical writing and

management of electrical designs.

• Detailed ongoing current knowledge of electronics components and systems.
• Global travel as required to support Sales activities and customer communication.
• Potential of dispatched as Guest Engineer at Customer.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

• Position reports to the Engineering Manager, Gentex Japan.
• Works daily with the USA-based Asian Electrical engineer(s).
• Must work closely with Gentex Headquarters’ Electrical Engineering staff while

establishing a detailed working knowledge of the Gentex electrical systems.

• Responsible to all automotive OEMs, manufactures, and suppliers.
