Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional ready to bring precision and efficiency to a fast-paced environment? We have an immediate opportunity for a talented Staff Accountant to play a pivotal role in supporting our corporate accounting functions. This role offers a unique chance to work with a cutting-edge team, contribute to month-end close processes, and develop your expertise in SAP S4 HANA within a collaborative, innovative setting.
What You’ll Do:
- Support the monthly and quarterly close activities by preparing schedules, journal entries, and reconciliations with impeccable accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage complex journal entries and high-risk balance sheet reconciliations, focusing on accruals, prepayments, and proper cutoff procedures.
- Process fixed asset transactions including additions, disposals, and transfers, and ensure reconciliation of fixed asset and CIP subledgers.
- Prepare and analyze cash and clearing account reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies swiftly.
- Assist in audit preparations by ensuring all supporting documentation is comprehensive, accurate, and ready for review.
- Utilize SAP S4 HANA for transaction processing and reconciliations, escalating issues as needed.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and assist in testing new controls to enhance efficiency.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- 2–4 years of accounting experience, with exposure to prepaid amortization, fixed assets, or reconciliations.
- Strong Excel skills (XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, pivot tables) for building reconciliations and data analysis.
- Familiarity with SAP S4 HANA or similar Tier 1 ERPs; willingness to learn quickly.
- Understanding of US GAAP and experience working in a SOX-compliant environment.
- Comfort working within structured monthly close cycles and meeting strict deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail, proactive communication, and sound judgment to escalate issues early.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with close management software like Blackline or Floqast.
- Exposure to public accounting or industry experience.
- Prior work with outsourced or shared service centers.
- Interest in pursuing a CPA.
Educational & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in industry or public accounting is valued but not mandatory.
Additional Details:
- Duration: 6+ months, with potential for temp-to-perm.
- Location: Palo Alto, CA—hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office.
- Travel: None required.
- Reports To: Senior Accountant, Corporate Accounting.
