A global Tier 1 supplier with a strong footprint in Japan is seeking a Business Unit Director (JOEM).

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing business development for a specific JOEM in Asia.
  • Core responsibilities involve overall business unit activities including managing teams, key functions, establishing critical customer relationships, and developing strategic plans aligned with global BU objectives.
  • Maintaining Business Unit oversight from initial business quotes through to production. Key challenges include managing customer relationships, shifting focus towards profitable growth.
  • Deliverables include achieving profitable, sustainable growth with an emphasis on quality. 

Requirements

  • University degree: business or engineering
  • Senior level sales experience in automotive with JOEMs including in a leadership position.
  • Experience with mechanical / mechatronic related components in Automotive
  • Team management experience of 5 to 10 subordinates
  • Experience working with stakeholders from multiple cultures using English and Japanese
  • Experience coordinating with multiple departments and driving cross-functional projects
  • Experience managing in a matrix organization that includes members from different cultures (multinationals)
  • Native level Japanese / fluent English
