Are you an engineer who enjoys combining technical expertise, customer collaboration, advanced manufacturing, and hands-on problem solving? We are seeking an Applications Engineer to support machine tool and automation projects in a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Compensation
- 2 years of experience: $75,000–$80,000
- 3+ years of experience: $80,000–$110,000
- Albany, NY
- Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Approximately one week of travel per month, including domestic and international assignments
- 2–4 extended trips annually to support customer installations and production schedules
- Overtime opportunities available as business needs require
- Translate customer requirements into practical machine and automation solutions
- Act as the primary advocate for customer needs, supporting machine usability, production processes, and operator training
- Perform applications engineering for CNC metal-cutting equipment, including programming, customization, and technical support
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, layouts, and technical documentation
- Collaborate with sales, engineering, manufacturing teams, suppliers, and customers throughout project execution
- Support continuous improvement initiatives involving processes, technology, safety, and cost reduction
- Troubleshoot machine and process issues during implementation and post-installation support
- Present layouts, design concepts, and technical recommendations to both customers and internal stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field
- 2–5+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing, industrial, machine tool, or automation environments
- CNC machine and machine shop experience strongly preferred
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, machine tools, tolerancing, and automation systems
- Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, power transmission systems, lubrication systems, and fabrication processes
- AutoCAD proficiency required; Electrical AutoCAD experience preferred
- Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications
