Technical Lead – AWS Cloud Engineer

Brisbane | Hybrid Working Arrangement

We're looking for a highly capable Technical Lead - AWS Cloud Engineer to play a key role in delivering strategic cloud and platform solutions. This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll work closely with architects, engineers, project teams, and business stakeholders to design, implement, and support secure, scalable, and resilient AWS environments.

What You'll Be Doing

• Lead technical delivery for cloud and platform initiatives.
• Translate business and technical requirements into detailed solution designs.
• Drive technical design workshops and engineering discussions.
• Design and implement AWS infrastructure and platform services.
• Develop detailed low-level designs (LLDs), infrastructure documentation, and operational support models.
• Build and maintain infrastructure using Terraform and Infrastructure as Code best practices.
• Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability solutions.
• Support incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to disaster recovery planning, testing, and operational readiness activities.
• Work closely with architects, security teams, project managers, engineers, and vendors.
• Provide technical leadership and recommendations on platform and technology decisions.

Essential Experience

• 8+ years of Cloud Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Engineering experience.
• 3+ years in a Technical Lead, Platform Lead, Senior Cloud Engineer, or Senior Engineering role.
• Strong AWS infrastructure expertise across services such as:
  • EC2
  • VPC
  • IAM
  • Route53
  • CloudWatch
  • S3
  • Load Balancers
  • Secrets Manager
  • Systems Manager
  • ECR
• Strong experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• Experience delivering enterprise-scale cloud solutions.
• Strong understanding of high availability, resilience, disaster recovery, and cloud security principles.
• Experience with monitoring, observability, alerting, and incident management.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Amazon EKS and Kubernetes experience.
• CI/CD pipeline development and automation.
• GitOps and ArgoCD.
• Kafka and event-driven architectures.
• Databricks or large-scale data platforms.
• API platforms and microservices.
• Experience within large enterprise or regulated environments.
• Platform Engineering and SRE practices.

About You
You are a self-starter who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and can independently drive outcomes with minimal supervision. You are comfortable leading technical discussions, influencing stakeholders, and balancing strategic thinking with hands-on engineering.
