Description:
Key Accountabilities

• Designs and develops solution architectures for enterprise-class business systems.
• Creates architecture and design artefacts, diagrams and documentation that effectively communicate the technical vision to stakeholders.
• Stays informed about emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in infrastructure, platforms, network and cloud.
• Evaluate new technologies and tools to ensure they align with the organisation's architectural standards.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and innovation within the IT infrastructure landscape. Reviewing current system solutions and recommending and implementing enhancements
• Collaborates with business stakeholders and project teams to gather and document infrastructure, cloud and technical related requirements for various programs and projects. Translate business needs into technical requirements to guide solution design.
• Contributes to the creation of architectural standards, policies, and guidelines for infrastructure, network, and end user computing. Ensure that solutions adhere to established standards and promote consistency across projects.
• Uphold the department’s commitment to Treaty and Self-Determination by supporting organisational activities in preparedness, response, and recovery to be culturally safe, community-aligned, and supportive of Aboriginal decision-making and Aboriginal-led outcomes. This includes respecting the cultural rights and roles of Traditional Owners to care for and protect Country.

Key Selection Criteria
Technical Expertise

• 7 years of solution architectural experience, preferably at a senior level.
• 10+ years of ICT experience.
• Extensive experience and expertise in developing solution architecture, system design, security, architecture patterns, modern information/data models and requirements encompassing public, private and hybrid models.
• Experience across multiple architecture domains such as enterprise, solution, application, data, network and security is highly desirable.
• Experience across multiple vertical sectors, such as banking, financial, government and public is highly desirable.
• Experience in security related technologies, including but not limited to, multi-factor authentication, single sign-on, identity management or related technologies is desirable.
• Experience with AWS services, including AWS Landing Zone, AWS Networking, API Gateway, Lambda, RDS and Aurora is a plus.
• Experience in integration architecture, including iPaaS, API Gateways, ETL, ESB and related technologies (e.g., REST, JSON, etc.) is a plus.
• Experience with Data Services, such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server and Snowflake is desirable.
• Experience with GIS mapping technologies and services is a plus.
• Knowledgeable about all phases of the software development lifecycle and solution delivery for application and/or software-based systems.
• Solid understanding on architecture and design principles and how to apply these principles during the design process.
• Experience in establishing and enforcing architectural standards, policies, and guidelines.
• Owning, capturing and documenting the current architecture where there are gaps, driving the development of target architecture, and developing roadmaps for the solution domain.
• Knowledgeable in current ICT cyber security practises and policies within the Australian Government Framework.
• Solid understanding of information security and/or IT risk management with a focus on security, performance and reliability.
• Good working knowledge of IT risks and issue management, including conducting risk assessments and develop risk mitigation strategies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in complex and dynamic environments.
• Experience in communicating solution designs and architecture across all levels of the organisation and working with diverse project teams.
• Strong presentation skills with the ability to confidently present technical concepts in business language to senior executives and business stakeholders.
