Forward Deployed Engineer

About the Role We're looking for a highly motivated Forward Deployed AI Engineer to work directly with business teams to identify opportunities, redesign workflows, and deliver AI-enabled solutions that drive measurable business outcomes.

This is not a traditional software engineering role. You'll partner closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and governance functions to take ideas from discovery through to deployment, adoption, and value realisation. You'll combine consulting, solution design, workflow transformation, and hands-on AI engineering to solve real business problems. 

What You'll Be Doing Discovery & Solution Design:

• Engage directly with business stakeholders to understand challenges, identify opportunities, and define measurable outcomes.
• Analyse existing workflows, processes, and decision points to determine where AI, automation, or process improvement can deliver value.
• Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions to gather requirements and develop implementation roadmaps.
• Assess business, process, data, and technology readiness for AI adoption. 

AI Solution Delivery:

• Design and implement AI-enabled workflows, agents, and automation solutions.
• Build and deploy solutions that leverage LLMs, orchestration frameworks, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and intelligent workflow tools.
• Integrate AI solutions with enterprise applications, data sources, APIs, and business processes.
• Work closely with platform, data, architecture, and cloud teams to ensure successful delivery.

Governance, Evaluation & Operationalisation:

• Ensure solutions meet organisational requirements for Responsible AI, security, privacy, risk, and compliance.
• Develop testing frameworks, evaluation strategies, and success criteria for AI models and workflows.
• Establish monitoring, observability, and governance controls across AI solutions.
• Manage the full solution lifecycle from prototype through to production deployment and continuous improvement.

Business Transformation:

• Partner with business leaders to measure and realise value from AI initiatives.
• Define operating models, support processes, and governance frameworks to support successful adoption.
• Create reusable templates, artefacts, and best practices that can be leveraged across the organisation.
• Support change management activities to help teams successfully adopt AI-enabled ways of working.

About You:

You are equally comfortable discussing strategy with business leaders as you are building and deploying technical solutions. You enjoy ambiguity, thrive in fast-paced environments, and are passionate about applying AI to solve meaningful business problems. 

Key Skills & Experience:

• Experience designing, building, and deploying AI-enabled applications, agents, or intelligent workflows.
• Strong understanding of modern AI concepts including LLMs, RAG, orchestration, prompt engineering, and context management.
• Experience working with APIs, databases, cloud environments, integrations, and enterprise platforms.
• Strong development skills in Python and/or TypeScript.
• Experience with AI evaluation frameworks, testing, observability, governance, and lifecycle management.
• Ability to balance trade-offs between quality, cost, latency, reliability, risk, and user experience.
• Strong stakeholder management and consulting skills, with the ability to translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
