Head of External Affairs and Media

It’s an incredibly exciting time to be in the women’s health sector, and we’re thrilled to support Wellbeing of Women to find their new Head of External Affairs, in a role that spans strategic policy and public affairs, media relations and public awareness campaigns.

This is a brand-new role, offering you the opportunity to develop and lead on the organisation’s public affairs activities. Therefore, I’m looking to speak to individuals with experience in developing and managing public-facing campaigns, leading to increased organisational profile and changes to policy, practice and attitudes.

We’re looking for someone who can think pro-actively and strategically about how to increase media and press coverage. You’ll be responsible for generating regular, high-quality national and regional media coverage and working on the implementation of impactful campaigns that raise awareness, influence policy, and support the charity’s wider objectives. 

In this leadership role, you will line manage a team of 2 and support them with strategic ideas and objectives. You’ll help the Health Collective Manager in building partnerships with key stakeholders, policy makers, influencers and key decision makers to amplify the needs of the Health Collective. And you’ll work with the Senior External Affairs Officer to ensure an effective and consistent approach to press, campaigns and storytelling work.

Essential experience needed:

• A strong track record leading strategic communications work for an organisation, have experience engaging multiple audiences including the media, politicians and policymakers, supporters, donors and stakeholders?
• Evidence of developing and managing public-facing campaigns, leading to increased organisational profile and changes to policy, practice and attitudes?
• Experience of developing and managing high-performing teams?
• Experience of working with the UK media, with a track record of securing high profile national coverage to generate profile and awareness.
• Experience working in or with the charitable/not for profit sector and preferably the women’s health sector.

• Salary £55,000
• Full-time, permanent position.
• Hybrid working between London Bridge office (minimum 2 days per week) and remote working
