A well-established food manufacturing operation in West Cork is seeking an experienced Food QA professional to join its technical team and provide additional support and leadership across its operation.

This is a newly created position and not a replacement role and has come about due to site expansion. You will work closely with the existing Technical Manager, supporting the continued development of the quality function and taking ownership of key quality systems, food safety and assurance activities.

The role is hands-on and factory-floor focused, with responsibility for ensuring high standards of food safety, product quality, GMP, HACCP, auditing and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day implementation and monitoring of the Plant HACCP plan.
• Drive and promote a strong food safety and quality culture through coaching and mentoring of production teams.
• Maintain the Quality Management System in an audit-ready state.
• Ensure product quality standards are maintained from raw material receipt through processing, storage and dispatch.
• Manage microbiological testing, including environmental swabbing, cleaning validation and shelf-life testing.
• Work closely with Production to ensure adherence to quality procedures, GMP and 5S standards.
• Conduct root cause analysis, identify corrective actions and ensure effective implementation.
• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.
• Support internal and external accreditation audits.

Skills & Experience

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• A Food Science or relevant third-level qualification.
• Proven experience in a similar Quality/Technical role within a BRC-accredited food manufacturing environment.
• Strong working knowledge of HACCP, GMP, food safety and quality systems.
• Experience preparing for and supporting BRC and other accreditation audits.
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and develop production teams.
• The ability to build effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

Package

• Salary: €50,000–€60,000 DOE
• Discretionary Bonus scheme after 12 months, subject to performance and eligibility
• 5% pension
