About Our Client

Our client is a proudly Australian-owned engineering and infrastructure contractor with a strong presence across Australia and New Zealand. The business delivers end-to-end solutions across the utility, transmission and renewable energy sectors, providing engineering, procurement, construction, installation, testing and commissioning services for complex high-voltage infrastructure projects.

With a growing pipeline of opportunities and continued investment in the energy transition sector, they are seeking an experienced Bid Manager to lead the pursuit and delivery of major EPC tenders across transmission, substations and renewable energy infrastructure.

The Opportunity

This is a pivotal role within a growing business where you'll be responsible for leading complex tenders from opportunity identification through to contract award and handover. You'll act as the central point of coordination between clients, internal teams, suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring all technical, commercial and delivery requirements are accurately captured and incorporated into winning submissions.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the bid process from opportunity qualification through to submission and contract award
• Develop and manage winning tender strategies aligned with client requirements and business objectives
• Review and interpret RFP documentation, technical specifications, drawings and contract documentation
• Define project scope, identify scope boundaries and develop clear divisions of responsibility across project stakeholders
• Coordinate and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations for major equipment packages and project delivery services
• Develop detailed cost estimates for high-voltage substations, switchyards, transmission infrastructure and associated electrical works
• Build project delivery programmes and tender schedules aligned to client requirements and project constraints
• Identify and assess commercial risks, technical challenges and value engineering opportunities throughout the tender phase
• Maintain estimating databases and pricing models using current market intelligence and supplier pricing
• Lead tender review meetings and ensure successful projects are seamlessly transitioned to delivery teams

About You
We are keen to speak with experienced Bid Managers, Estimators or Project Engineers who have a strong track record delivering successful tenders within the power, utilities or high-voltage infrastructure sectors.

You will bring:

• Experience leading complex bids for substations, transmission or major electrical infrastructure projects
• Previous exposure working for an EPC contractor within utilities, power or renewable energy markets
• Strong estimating capability with the ability to build detailed and accurate project cost models
• Sound understanding of high-voltage infrastructure, including substations, switchgear, protection systems, transmission assets and associated civil works
• The ability to interpret technical specifications, drawings and contractual documentation
• Strong stakeholder management skills with experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors and suppliers
• Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
• Excellent commercial acumen, analytical thinking and problem-solving capability
