Our client, Murray Irrigation, is seeking a Senior Asset Officer (GIS) to lead the management, data integrity, and continuous improvement of the organisation’s Asset Management System (AMS) and Geographic Information System (GIS). This role drives best-practice spatial data governance, provides expert technical guidance, and delivers strategic analysis to underpin asset lifecycle decision-making across the organisation.

- Leading the ongoing management, enhancement, and governance of AMS and GIS systems to ensure high availability, data quality, and access control.
- Leading the GIS workstream for new Asset Management System implementations, including designing, building, and maintaining integrations between GIS platforms and enterprise systems.
- Designing, building, and maintaining a suite of high-quality web maps, dashboards, and field collection applications (ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, Survey123) to drive capability across field and operational teams.
- Automating spatial data workflows, ETL processes, and repetitive tasks using scripting tools such as Python, Arcade, FME, or equivalent.
- Conducting advanced spatial analysis, geographic modelling, and scenario analysis to support capital planning, asset replacement schedules, and resource allocation.
- Leading data quality improvement programs, establishing QA/QC processes, and governing spatial data collection standards for field operations.
- Providing technical guidance, training, and support across business units to build organisational capability in spatial systems and asset data tools.
The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking spatial specialist with strong technical expertise in enterprise GIS platforms, spatial data governance, and system integrations. To be successful in this role, you will have the following experience and attributes:
- Tertiary qualifications in GIS, Spatial Science, Surveying, or a related field combined with substantial experience in a senior or specialist enterprise GIS role.
- Extensive experience in the administration, architecture, and strategic customisation of the full ESRI product suite (ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, ESRI Web Apps, Field Maps, Survey123).
- Demonstrated experience with enterprise data management systems, system administration, configuration, and GIS–enterprise system integrations.
- Scripting proficiency in Python, Arcade, FME, or equivalent to automate spatial workflows and data pipelines.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing, managing, and improving field data collection apps and user workflows for non-technical stakeholders.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex technical concepts for senior leadership and operational teams.
- Strong project leadership skills, with the ability to work autonomously, exercise sound professional judgment, and drive continuous improvement.
