Davidson Technology are working with a State Government Department to secure an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to oversee the technical delivery of critical technical uplift supporting various Cyber initiatives and projects
About the Role
As a Cyber Security Engineer, you will lead the hands-on technical delivery of complex cyber security uplift initiatives, with a particular focus on improving Essential Eight maturity and strengthening the organisation’s overall security posture. You will independently undertake discovery, design and implementation activities including introducing multi-factor authentication across legacy applications and systems, optimising Microsoft Sentinel and expanding security logging, delivering Essential Eight uplift activities, decommissioning legacy technologies, and improving business continuity, high availability and backup capabilities. You will develop technical designs, configurations, implementation plans, procedures and status reporting, navigating ICT governance processes to secure approval and ensure solutions are successfully implemented. Working across multiple technical teams and workstreams, you will coordinate resources and technical change activities, manage dependencies, identify and mitigate technical risks and gaps, and ensure committed scope and timeframes are achieved. You will build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, provide technical guidance and coaching to other resources, apply evidence-based analysis and sound judgement to complex security challenges, and support additional cyber security initiatives as required.
About You
To be successful, you will bring strong hands-on technical expertise to deliver complex cyber security initiatives, ensuring technical milestones, deliverables and project outcomes are achieved within agreed timeframes. You will have demonstrated experience implementing security capabilities such as Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and SIEM/logging solutions using Microsoft Sentinel, complemented by knowledge of the Essential Eight and ISO 27001 security frameworks. You will ideally bring broad technical capability across Microsoft 365 and Azure, Microsoft security products, virtualisation technologies, hybrid cloud and on-premises environments, Active Directory, Group Policy and Windows 11. You will actively contribute to technical workshops, project meetings and risk management activities, proactively identifying potential barriers and keeping stakeholders informed of progress, risks and dependencies. Your strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills will enable you to work effectively across technical teams, while your ability to produce clear system documentation, processes and procedures in accordance with organisational policies will support secure, governed and sustainable technology outcomes.
The Benefits
You will be offered a 9-month contract (possible 12-month extension) on an excellent hourly rate and the ability to negotiate a flexible working arrangement for the duration of the assignment.
