We are currently seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join a large, complex organisation delivering critical services to the Queensland community.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong Data Engineer to work on significant data and technology initiatives, contributing to the design, development and implementation of scalable data solutions while improving data reliability, accessibility and operational performance.

About the Role

You will be responsible for providing specialist technical expertise across data engineering initiatives, including the design and development of complex data solutions, data integration, system optimisation and technical assurance.

You will work closely with technical teams, business stakeholders and external partners to deliver robust solutions that meet business requirements, technology standards and governance expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement complex data and engineering solutions across enterprise environments.
• Develop and optimise data processing, integration and transformation solutions.
• Provide specialist technical advice and contribute to solution architecture and design decisions.
• Perform design assurance, impact analysis and assess technical options, risks and trade-offs.
• Support the integration of systems and data platforms, ensuring quality, reliability and performance.
• Drive continuous improvement, automation and optimisation across data engineering processes.
• Apply appropriate security, risk management, quality assurance and governance practices.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures and engineering standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams, vendors and stakeholders to deliver successful project outcomes.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, technical standards and the adoption of emerging technologies.

About You

We are looking for a Data Engineer with:

• 5–8+ years' experience designing and developing complex data or technology solutions.
• Strong experience working with data engineering, advanced databases, data integration or IoT-related technologies.
• Proven experience with advanced programming and software development.
• Strong understanding of system integration, quality assurance, performance optimisation and technical design.
• Experience working with cloud technologies, with relevant certifications highly regarded.
• Strong understanding of security protocols, risk management and technology governance.
• Ability to provide specialist technical advice and influence technical decisions.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and collaboration skills.
• A strong focus on continuous improvement, innovation and operational excellence.
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering, IT, Computer Science or a related discipline.
