Apply directOur client is seeking a motivated senior research application engineer to design, develop and maintain the next generation Japanese natural language understanding (NLU) system for the automotive and mobility markets.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Development of the NLU pipeline
- Development of new use cases and features in NLU
- Define and refine annotation specifications
- Develop and maintain dictionaries, grammar rules and annotations.
- NLU and end-to-end accuracy improvements
- Responding to QA and customer reported issues
- Contribute to team effort to improvement of entire NLU system
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, or related field (Masters is an advantage)
- At least 3 years of relevant work experience
- Native speaker of Japanese; near-native speaker of English is a plus
- Experience in NLP, especially natural language understanding;
- Programming skills (especially scripting to support research experiments)
Preferred skills
- Machine learning
- Programming experience with Python or Java,
- Proficiency in additional human languages a plus
