About the Position
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Senior Financial Accountant is a key member of the finance team and will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial reporting, governance and compliance across the organisation.
This role combines hands-on financial control responsibilities with technical accounting expertise and broad stakeholder engagement. Working closely with the Financial Controller and CFO, you will lead month-end reporting, statutory compliance, audit management and cash flow forecasting while contributing to finance transformation and business improvement initiatives.
The position will also partner with teams across the business to strengthen reporting, optimise processes and improve the quality of financial information used to support commercial decision-making. As a senior member of the finance team, you will provide technical guidance, support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the ongoing development of a scalable and high-performing finance function.

Duties
• Own the end-to-end month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate management reporting
• Lead the preparation of statutory financial statements and support external reporting requirements
• Maintain balance sheet integrity, reconciliation governance and accounting policy compliance
• Support technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition and complex accounting assessments
• Lead the external audit process and coordinate all audit deliverables
• Drive cash flow forecasting and working capital management initiatives
• Partner with commercial and operational stakeholders to improve reporting, financial insights and decision-making
• Support ERP optimisation, automation and broader finance transformation projects
• Ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards, taxation obligations and governance requirements
• Mentor and support junior finance team members while promoting continuous improvement across the function
About You
To be successful in this role, you will be a technically strong and commercially minded finance professional who enjoys operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment. You will be highly organised, proactive and comfortable taking ownership while building strong relationships across the business.
You will have:
• CA or CPA qualification
• 6-8+ years' post-qualification experience in financial accounting, financial control, audit or technical accounting
• Demonstrated experience managing month-end reporting, statutory reporting and external audit processes
• Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and financial controls
• Advanced Excel skills and strong ERP systems experience
• Experience driving process improvement, systems enhancement or finance transformation initiatives
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• A proactive, solutions-focused approach and genuine passion for improving processes, systems and financial outcomes
Experience within the energy sector, utilities, infrastructure or organisations with complex revenue streams and high-volume transaction environments will be highly regarded.
