Product Technology Software Engineer

PRODUCT TECHNOLOGY SOFTWARE ENGINEER

Local input to product technology engineering

REPORT TO:

Product technology Software manager

PURPOSE:

Produce ECU and control logic designs, rig tests and drawings.

Deliver engineering requirements for customer releases.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepare the following (with appropriate supporting calculations) utilizing the appropriate CAD system(s) and operating in accordance with the customer’s and ECU’s drawing standards: customer contractual approval drawings: component product detail models / designs: Control logic module and ECU Hardware: fit and calibrate parameter of function modules / tests: rig operation and vehicle performance.

• Support the customer’s design engineers in the modeling for vehicle and component assembly build.

• Comply with the customer APQP and ADD CAPM process to support and meet program timing deliverables.

• Identify and specify on the drawings critical and significant characteristics as agreed with GKN Driveline application and manufacturing engineers and the customer.

• Interface with the GKN Driveline application and ensure simultaneous engineering with ADD manufacturing engineers to enable DFM and DFA within product launch operations.

• Monitor and implement design changes in accordance with GKN Driveline and customer system requirements.

• Assist the product technology engineering manager and group leader in the preparation of technical justifications.

• Create, review and manage assembly and component design FMEAs.

• Support PFMEAs with manufacturing engineers.

• Support the product technology engineering manager and the group leader with the provision of product / assembly / schematic / presentation / rig test / vehicle test / layout drawings to enable their review for current and future project requirements.

• Work as part of the GKN Driveline team to carry out activities to reduce internal and external costs e.g. VA/VE and manufacturing process changes.

• Support other design activities as required.

• Support other GKN Driveline activities as required.
