RobLawMax Recruitment is proud to be partnering with Scanpower to recruit an Electrical Engineer – Planning & Design to join their Network Division.

Scanpower is a community-owned electricity distribution business with a reputation for reliability, innovation and long-term investment in its network and people. Based in Dannevirke, this is an opportunity to join a highly respected organisation where your contribution will be visible, valued and impactful.

Whether you're an experienced distribution engineer or an engineer with 2–5 years' experience looking to broaden your exposure, this role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience across planning, design, asset management, network operations and future network technologies.

Unlike larger utilities where engineers can become highly specialised, this role provides exposure across the full lifecycle of the network and the opportunity to work alongside experienced industry professionals in a collaborative and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Network planning and development
    • LV and 11kV network design
    • Asset management and lifecycle planning
    • Capital works and renewal programmes
    • Asset Management Plan (AMP) development
    • Load forecasting and network analytics
    • Engineering standards and technical documentation
    • Emerging technologies including EV charging, DER and smart network initiatives
    • Operational support and fault response activities

About You

We're open to a range of experience levels and would welcome applications from engineers looking to take the next step in their career.

You may bring:

  • An Electrical Engineering qualification
    • 2+ years' experience within electricity distribution, utilities, consulting or a related industry
    • Exposure to network planning, design, asset management or project delivery
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
    • A collaborative approach and desire to learn
    • An interest in developing broad capability across the electricity sector

Why Join Scanpower?

  • Broad exposure across planning, design, asset management and network operations
    • Opportunity to work across the full network lifecycle rather than a narrow technical discipline
    • Community-owned electricity network with a strong reputation for reliability and service
    • Less bureaucracy and red tape than larger utilities
    • Genuine influence on network decisions and future investment planning
    • Supportive and experienced team environment
    • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
    • Company vehicle
    • Southern Cross health insurance
    • 3% annual bonus
    • Long-term career development opportunities

For engineers looking to broaden their experience, accelerate their development and make a genuine impact within a well-regarded electricity network, this is a rare opportunity.
