A Powder Coat Painter in Gastonia, NC is responsible for applying durable, high-quality powder-coated finishes to various metal products . The role entails performing surface preparation, operating electrostatic spray guns, and overseeing the thermal curing process to ensure finishes meet strict quality standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Surface Preparation: Pre-treat and clean metal parts using cleaning agents, sanding, and masking techniques.
- Powder Application: Operate manual electrostatic spray guns on the powder coating line to ensure even, consistent coverage while minimizing waste.
- Curing Process: Manage curing ovens, strictly adhering to temperature and time requirements to bake the finish properly.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products for flaws or irregularities and perform touch-ups as needed.
- Equipment Maintenance & Safety: Clean and maintain spray equipment and strictly follow workplace safety guidelines.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent; vocational training in powder coating or a related field is a plus but generally not mandatory.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, precision, and hand-eye coordination.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand for long periods and frequently lift/move up to 25 pounds
