Senior HSEQ Advisor

Zenergy is partnering with an established civil infrastructure contractor to recruit an experienced Senior HSEQ Advisor for a major infrastructure project in Sydney.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on safety professional with experience across civil construction, utilities or water infrastructure to play a key role in the safe delivery of complex construction works.

About the Role

Reporting to senior project leadership, you will be the dedicated HSEQ resource on site, providing practical safety guidance and ensuring compliance with project, client and legislative requirements.

Working closely with construction teams, subcontractors and client representatives, you will support the day-to-day management of HSEQ requirements, with a particular focus on high-risk activities, permit-to-work systems and subcontractor compliance.

This position will suit a proactive Senior HSEQ Advisor who enjoys being present in the field, building relationships with crews and driving positive safety outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide visible, field-based HSEQ leadership and support across project activities.
• Coordinate permit-to-work requirements and oversee high-risk construction activities.
• Manage subcontractor mobilisation, onboarding and ongoing HSEQ compliance.
• Conduct site inspections, audits, task observations and safety walks.
• Review SWMS, risk assessments and project safety documentation.
• Support incident investigations, corrective actions and safety reporting.
• Facilitate toolbox talks, pre-starts and ongoing safety communications.
• Maintain HSEQ records, registers and compliance documentation.
• Liaise with project stakeholders and client representatives on HSEQ matters.

About You

• Minimum 5 years' experience in HSEQ roles across civil construction, utilities, water or major infrastructure projects.
• Experience working for a principal contractor, ideally within a Tier 1 environment.
• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety or higher.
• Strong understanding of WHS legislation, permit-to-work systems and high-risk construction activities.
• Experience managing subcontractor safety, workforce onboarding and project compliance.
• Exposure to utilities, confined spaces, lifting operations or similar high-risk activities.
• Sydney Water project experience will be highly regarded.
• Strong communication skills and a practical, solutions-focused approach to safety.
• Full Australian working rights.
