Position Title: Product Development Team Leader Department: Product Development
Location: Yokohama
Report to: PDTL Manager

General Description (Purpose of the placement, Scope of program):
Reporting to Japan regional engineering manager the primary responsibility for this position is to provide detailed engineering and program launch leader ship between the OEM Customer and the remote Center of Excellence development team.
The candidate must have excellent organization, communication and team leadership skills. The ideal candidate must hold a BSEE or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

4+ years experience in leading automotive electrical infotainment or telematics product development activity with an OEM or a Tier 1 supplier, in one or more of the followings,

Product Design & Development for Electronic Module or Electrical System Project Management for Electronic Module or Electrical System
Project Engineer for Electronic Module or Electrical System

Specific Responsibilities:
The Product Development Team Leader is the project manager within Telematics Control Unit (TCU) Product Development having the responsibility for delivering the product in the specified timeframe, and with the agreed quality and budget.

Typical Duties:
Coordinate Product Development Activities:

•  Attend/Support Customer meetings and Main interface with Customer.

•  Lead cross functional team included SW, System, HW and Mechanical Engineers.

•  Main interface with the Applications/Resident Engineer (usually on site at the customer

  location) and other technical design teams located in oversea as required.

•  Establish and manage Product Development timing plan.

•  Coordinate prototype builds, testing, and deliveries as defined in the SOW and Feature

  by Phase agreements.

•  Document lessons learned from program by phase and feed back to Product

  Development Team to update appropriate engineering documents.

•  Manage customer Design Change Requests.

  Special Requirements:
  Must be fluent in both English and Japanese
  Occasional travel required (domestic and international)

   

Requirements

Required/Preferred Skills and Experience:
Strongly required work experience with Japanese Automotive OEM.
Telematics product development and system level requirements development.
Automotive OEM products development process and specifications.
Technical analysis document development such as FMEA, DFMEA, FTA, etc.
Knowledge of Electric Circuit Design
Knowledge of Automotive product environmental test requirements.
Knowledge of In-Vehicle BUS communication protocol. (CAN and IE BUS system) Knowledge of In-Vehicle Navigation system.
Knowledge of Embedded phone module.
Software development and programming in C or C++ is preferred
