Job Details
Bedard Pharmacy & Medical Supplies is recruiting a Pharmacy Technician for our long-term care pharmacy.
The pharmacy schedule is four 10-hour shifts Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., with weekend rotations on Saturday and Sunday, 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. When scheduled to work a weekend, additional time off will be given during the week.
 
Job Summary
The major responsibility of the Pharmacy Technician is to support the Pharmacist in the prescription fulfillment process by:

• Filling prescriptions for pharmacist verification
• Providing excellent customer service
• Answering incoming and place outgoing phone calls
• Entering/maintaining patient profiles and new prescription information into the pharmacy information system (QS1)
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date prescription files
• Maintaining delivery receipts
• Assisting in maintaining pharmaceutical inventory
• Ordering medications, stocking drug shelves, cleaning drug bay shelving, and removing expiring medications from stock

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with willingness to attend continuing education related to the position
• One to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in pharmacy or medical setting
• State of Maine Pharmacy Technician Registration (can be done after hire)
• CPhT (Certified Pharmacy Technician) Certification in good standing preferred, or ability to obtain Certification for advancement once employed
• Proficient general office skills (typing, computer, filing, and multiple phone lines)
• Basic computer skills or experience with Office 365 (Outlook, Teams), QS1
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to multitask in a stressful environment
• Good problem-solving skills and ability to focus with great attention to detail
• Ability to use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with customers on the telephone and co-workers
• Ability to use general math skills to perform basic calculations
• Insurance billing knowledge preferred

Physical Requirements

• The position requires standing or sitting 70-100% of the time and walking of short distances up to 30% of the time.
• Bending the wrists and use of the hands to grasp or pinch, handle or feel objects, and using keyboard and computer equipment is required 100% of the time
• Body movements of turning the head and torso, bending, reaching, lifting, moving, and carrying objects is required at least 50% of the time
• Bending at the knees and waist and lifting weight of 20 lbs. or more is required at least 50% of the time

Compensation & Benefits

• $18.50-$21.00/hour (Level one tech is $18.50 and level two is $21.00.  For someone to be considered level two, they have to hold their CPhT, have some years of experience as a pharmacy technician, and be approved as level two by our PIC.)
