IAM Engineer – Okta & Okta Access Gateway

About the Opportunity

An enterprise organisation is seeking an experienced IAM Engineer to provide engineering and operational support across its Okta Cloud and Okta Access Gateway environments.

This role will focus on application onboarding, identity integrations, testing, automation, platform maintenance and operational readiness. You will work closely with application, infrastructure and security teams to support secure access services and the continued improvement of the organisation’s IAM environment.

Key Responsibilities

Okta Cloud Engineering

• Administer and support Okta tenant environments.
• Configure and maintain Single Sign-On, Multi-Factor Authentication, Adaptive Authentication, Universal Directory and Lifecycle Management.
• Integrate cloud and enterprise applications using SAML 2.0, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect and WS-Federation.
• Create and manage authentication, MFA and authorisation policies.
• Troubleshoot provisioning, federation and authentication issues.
• Undertake testing, validation and deployment-readiness activities for production releases.

Okta Access Gateway

• Support and maintain Okta Access Gateway appliances.
• Integrate legacy on-premises applications with Okta SSO.
• Configure header-based, Kerberos/IWA, form-based and reverse-proxy authentication.
• Manage SSL/TLS certificates supporting secure application access.
• Assist with application onboarding and migration to modern authentication methods.
• Perform OAG upgrades, patching, monitoring and troubleshooting.

Operations, Automation and Governance

• Resolve ServiceNow incidents and service requests.
• Support access reviews and audit activities.
• Develop automation using REST APIs and Okta Workflows.
• Create and maintain runbooks, operational procedures and technical documentation.
• Collaborate with application, infrastructure and security teams.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and platform optimisation.
• Support knowledge-transfer and training activities.

Required Skills and Experience

To be successful, you will bring:

• Strong hands-on experience in Okta administration and engineering.
• Practical experience supporting Okta Access Gateway.
• Experience implementing SAML, OAuth, OpenID Connect, LDAP, SCIM and Kerberos.
• Sound knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS, DNS, load balancers, reverse proxies and SSL/TLS certificates.
• Experience working with REST APIs and identity-related automation.

Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous:

• Okta Certified Professional, Administrator or Consultant certification.
• Experience with CyberArk, SailPoint or other IAM platforms.
• Experience working within enterprise IAM environments.
• Familiarity with Okta Workflows.
