About the Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Systems Baseline Engineering Lead to provide specialist systems engineering expertise in the development, maintenance, and governance of complex capability baselines, requirements, architectures, and integration activities.
The successful candidate will support the delivery of large-scale technology and systems modernisation initiatives, ensuring technical coherence, traceability, integration, and alignment across multiple projects and stakeholders.
This role offers the opportunity to work within a highly skilled multidisciplinary environment focused on complex systems engineering, digital transformation, and emerging engineering practices.

Key Responsibilities
Capability Requirements and Scope Management
- Develop and refine capability requirements supporting ongoing transformation and modernisation initiatives.
- Translate business drivers, stakeholder needs, and strategic objectives into coherent system-level requirements.
- Conduct requirements analysis, decomposition, traceability, and prioritisation activities.
- Lead the development, maintenance, and evolution of capability and system baselines.
- Maintain end-to-end traceability between requirements, designs, dependencies, interfaces, and approved engineering decisions.
- Assess and manage the impact of proposed changes on capability outcomes and system coherence.
- Analyse integration requirements, technical dependencies, interfaces, and interoperability considerations across complex environments.
- Contribute to architecture development and integration planning activities.
- Identify and resolve design conflicts, technical risks, and integration challenges.
- Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and contemporary digital engineering methodologies.
- Promote visibility and traceability across engineering artefacts, architectures, and technical documentation.
- Support continuous improvement and innovation through adoption of emerging technologies, automation, and AI-enabled engineering tools.
- Conduct technical assessments supporting capability planning, design, integration, and investment decisions.
- Analyse risks, constraints, opportunities, and technical trade-offs.
- Provide evidence-based engineering advice and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Engage with technical specialists, project teams, business stakeholders, and external partners.
- Facilitate workshops, working groups, design reviews, and technical forums.
- Build collaborative relationships to support successful engineering outcomes.
- Support capability planning, concept development, and future-state engineering initiatives.
- Contribute to strategic engineering activities aligned with organisational priorities and long-term objectives.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Significant experience developing and managing complex capability and system requirements.
- Experience developing, maintaining, and assuring system and capability baselines.
- Strong understanding and practical application of Systems Engineering principles.
- Experience assessing integration requirements, interfaces, dependencies, and interoperability considerations.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake technical analysis and provide evidence-based recommendations.
- Practical experience applying MBSE and contemporary digital engineering methodologies.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Excellent written communication skills with experience producing technical reports, assessments, and recommendations.
- Tertiary qualifications in Systems Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Formal Systems Engineering certification or professional accreditation.
- Experience with MBSE methodologies and associated toolsets.
- Experience working in large and complex technology or engineering environments.
- Knowledge of systems integration, networking, communications, software, or enterprise technology ecosystems.
- Experience with open architectures, interoperability standards, and modular design approaches.
- Exposure to automation, data analytics, digital engineering, or AI-enabled engineering solutions.
- Experience contributing to capability development, transformation, or large-scale technology programs.
