Job Title: Behavioural Specialist

Service Area: Adult Disability Residential Services

Location: Kildare / Meath

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm

Overview
A disability service provider is seeking a Behavioural Specialist to support adults with intellectual disabilities and complex needs within residential services. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering high-quality behavioural assessment and intervention, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and frontline staff to support individuals who present with behaviours of concern.

The role focuses on implementing evidence-based behavioural strategies that promote independence, wellbeing and improved quality of life for service users.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive functional behavioural assessments.

  • Develop and implement Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans in line with best practice.

  • Monitor and evaluate behavioural interventions and adjust plans where necessary.

  • Support preparation for multidisciplinary reviews and care planning meetings.

  • Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings and service reviews.

  • Ensure all practice is delivered within professional competence, clinical governance frameworks and ethical guidelines.

Staff Support & Training

  • Provide guidance and support to frontline staff in implementing behavioural support strategies.

  • Develop and deliver training to staff in Positive Behaviour Support approaches.

  • Promote person-centred and evidence-based behavioural practices within the service.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals and external agencies.

  • Communicate effectively and sensitively with service users, families and staff.

  • Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality in line with best practice standards.

Professional Development & Administration

  • Maintain accurate documentation related to behavioural assessments and interventions.

  • Participate in continuing professional development and remain informed of developments in behavioural practice.

  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives and quality standards.

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications

  • Primary degree in Psychology or a related discipline.

  • Postgraduate qualification in Behavioural Analysis or an equivalent field.

Essential Experience

  • Minimum of one year’s experience working with adults with disabilities, including Intellectual Disability, Acquired Brain Injury, Mental Health or Physical Disability.

Desirable

  • Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) certification or equivalent.
