Apply directHorizon Recruitment is recruiting for an Accounting Manager to join a collaborative corporate finance team. This role is responsible for leading a small accounting team while partnering closely with finance leadership to deliver accurate corporate accounting, quarterly external reporting, and financial analysis. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, develop their team, and proactively identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting that support the organization's continued growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of three accounting professionals while fostering accountability, technical growth, and career development.
- Oversee corporate accounts payable and full-cycle accounting activities, ensuring weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including reviewing journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet analyses.
- Independently manage complex accounting areas, including intercompany accounting, investments, associates, and other corporate transactions.
- Partner closely with finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to support quarterly external reporting, financial statement preparation, and consolidation activities.
- Analyze financial and operational results, identify key business drivers, and provide practical recommendations that support informed business decisions.
- Prepare and consolidate quarter-end working papers that support financial statements and management discussion and analysis (MD&A).
- Administer the company's equity stock ownership program while ensuring accurate reporting and regulatory compliance.
- Support internal and external audit requirements by preparing documentation and responding to audit requests.
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency, reporting quality, accuracy, and internal controls.
- Contribute to finance projects, accounting system enhancements, and other corporate initiatives as required.
Requirements
- CPA designation (or equivalent professional accounting designation).
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Previous leadership experience managing or mentoring accounting professionals.
- Strong experience managing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Experience supporting external financial reporting and consolidation activities.
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex accounting areas with minimal ramp-up.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
- Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements that strengthen reporting, controls, and operational efficiency.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to provide practical business recommendations.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across finance and non-finance teams.
- Ability to work independently while contributing as a trusted member of the finance leadership team.

Remuneration
- $110,000-$120,000 annual base salary
- 10% annual bonus
- 4 weeks vacation
