Apply directHorizon Recruitment is recruiting for a Strategic Sourcing Specialist to support the delivery of strategic sourcing and category management initiatives for a large, complex organization. This role plays an important part in ensuring teams across the organization have the right suppliers, contracts, and procurement strategies in place to support successful delivery. You will work closely with project teams and business partners to lead sourcing activities from initial planning through contract award and purchase order execution while maintaining strong governance and procurement standards. Initially a 12 month contract term this opportunity has a strong opportunity for longer term work.
Responsibilities
- Develop sourcing strategies that align with project requirements, category plans, and procurement policies.
- Partner with project managers and stakeholders to define sourcing scope, timelines, and commercial requirements.
- Conduct supplier and market research to identify qualified vendors and sourcing opportunities.
- Manage competitive sourcing events, including preparing and issuing RFQs, coordinating bidder communications, and ensuring a fair evaluation process.
- Lead commercial bid evaluations and support technical review teams in selecting preferred suppliers.
- Prepare evaluation reports, award recommendations, and supporting procurement documentation.
- Support contract negotiations, contract awards, and supplier onboarding activities.
- Process purchase requisitions and purchase orders in SAP while ensuring compliance with financial approval requirements.
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on sourcing strategies, procurement risks, and supplier market conditions.
- Build productive relationships with suppliers, business partners, and cross-functional teams.
- Resolve supplier or contract issues and support ongoing supplier relationship management initiatives.
- Ensure all sourcing activities comply with governance requirements, procurement policies, and applicable Indigenous procurement frameworks where required.
- Identify opportunities to improve sourcing processes, documentation, and overall procurement efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or category management within a complex organization.
- Strong understanding of strategic sourcing and category management principles.
- Experience leading competitive procurement processes, including RFQs, supplier evaluations, and contract award activities.
- Advanced SAP experience, including purchase requisition and purchase order processing.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to perform data analysis and bid evaluations.
- Strong analytical, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple sourcing projects and competing priorities.
- Experience working with public sector procurement practices is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Indigenous procurement frameworks, including FNDB processes, is considered an asset.
- Supply Chain Management or Project Management certifications are considered an asset.
- Advanced written and verbal English communication skills.
Remuneration
- $50/hr target contract rate
- Hybrid work available.
