Job Summary
Our client is seeking an Electronics Lab Technician to support reliability and manufacturing testing of electrical hardware for automotive technology programs, including ADAS, telematics, infotainment, battery management, and zonal Electronic Control Units (ECUs). This role will work within a team that builds custom automated test solutions — including internal-facing software, low-level firmware, data management platforms, and custom electromechanical hardware — deployed internally and at external labs and contract manufacturing facilities. The technician will work closely with engineering leads to conduct hardware bring-up, reliability and manufacturing testing, build first articles, redline schematics, and troubleshoot failures. This position is 100% onsite and requires passing an MVR check.
Job Responsibilities: In this role, you will support hardware validation and automated test equipment operations within the test engineering department.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operate software user interfaces to exercise test equipment during hardware bring-up
- Own calibration and mechanical setup of thermal and vibration chambers
- Troubleshoot, root cause, and document DUT, test equipment, and harness failures
- Validate systems functionality using standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power analyzers, power supplies, and digital multimeters
- Perform circuit board electronic modifications such as component rework and soldering/de-soldering of electronic components
- Support commissioning of new systems
Essential Job Duties and Job Functions:
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and manufacturers' product data sheets
- Apply control vs. ramp rate equations to determine timing for ramp profiles
- Explain basic functions of digital components on a schematic
- Assemble and configure chamber and chiller test setups
- Use power tools and laboratory test equipment
- Move and lift test boxes and instrumentation
- Use Microsoft and Google productivity applications (spreadsheets, word processing, presentations)
Knowledge and Skills:
- Understanding of EVT, DVT, and PVT processes and tester validation
- Knowledge of automated test equipment (ATE) operation and test result documentation
- Familiarity with current digital design schematics and basic operating principles
- Technical breadth across development cycles, with ability to articulate past engineering tasks and contributions
- Hands-on, proactive approach — identifies and fills in gaps where needed
Education and Experience:
- Technical degree or relevant experience in electronics testing
- 5+ years of experience building automated test equipment (ATE) or industrial automation systems
- Hands-on experience with test chambers (thermal and vibration)
- Experience with soldering and circuit board rework
- Experience with electrical testing using laboratory tools
- Must pass MVR check
