About the Role
We are seeking two experienced Senior Solution Architects to lead the development of secure, end-to-end solution architectures for complex key, credential and secrets management capabilities.
Operating at an EL2-equivalent level, you will provide technical leadership across the design and implementation of enterprise systems and software solutions. You will ensure proposed architectures meet operational, security and enterprise architecture requirements while remaining scalable, resilient and supportable.
The role requires extensive experience across enterprise security, infrastructure, cloud or cyber security programs, together with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, governance boards and multidisciplinary technical teams.

The Responsibilities

• Leading the development of secure, end-to-end solution architectures for complex key and secrets management capabilities.
• Designing architectures that support cryptographic key lifecycle management, secret storage, certificate management, privileged access integration and automated key rotation.
• Producing and maintaining architecture artefacts, including solution designs, security models, integration patterns, infrastructure designs, data flows and technical roadmaps.
• Conducting architecture assessments, options analyses and technology evaluations.
• Providing recommendations that appropriately balance security, performance, scalability, risk and operational supportability.
• Collaborating with security architects, engineers, project managers, business stakeholders and vendors to support successful implementation and integration.
• Providing architectural governance and assurance through design reviews, technical review boards, security assessments and project governance forums.
• Identifying and managing architectural risks, dependencies and technical debt.
• Overseeing the implementation of key and secrets management platforms and their secure integration with enterprise systems.
• Designing integration patterns that allow applications, CI/CD pipelines, container platforms and cloud services to consume secrets securely.
• Leading proof-of-concept activities and pilot deployments to validate architectural decisions.
• Developing strategies to migrate from legacy key and credential management approaches to modern, centralised platforms.
• Applying zero-trust principles and defence-in-depth strategies to protect cryptographic material.
• Designing audit, logging and monitoring capabilities for key usage, access and lifecycle events.
• Supporting security accreditation and certification activities, including the preparation of required security documentation.
• Contributing to key management policies, procedures and operational playbooks.
• Providing technical leadership and mentoring to implementation teams and junior personnel.
• Conducting architectural reviews and risk assessments for proposed solutions.

What You Will Bring
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

• A minimum of 10 years’ experience leading solution architecture activities for complex enterprise security, infrastructure, cloud or cyber security programs and projects.
• Proven experience designing and integrating enterprise key management, secrets management, identity and access management, Public Key Infrastructure or cryptographic security solutions.
• Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture methodologies, security architecture frameworks and systems integration principles.
• Experience designing secure solutions across on-premises, cloud and hybrid environments.
• An understanding of high availability, resilience and disaster recovery requirements.
• Demonstrated experience leading the development of solution architectures across business, infrastructure or functional areas.
• The ability to prepare technical plans and ensure appropriate architecture tools, methods and resources are applied.
• Experience providing technical guidance, governance and assurance across solution development and systems integration.
• Strong systems design capability across strategic, large and complex ICT programs.
• The ability to assess emerging technologies and document their potential impacts, risks, opportunities and organisational benefits.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills.
• The ability to build strategic relationships and influence senior executives, governance boards and technical teams.
• Strong analytical skills, sound technical judgement and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.

Desirable Skills and Qualifications
The following skills and qualifications will be highly regarded:

• A tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Cyber Security, Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Equivalent demonstrated professional experience in place of formal qualifications.
• Experience developing technology strategies, capability roadmaps and enterprise architecture models.
• Knowledge of Australian Government security policies, standards and assurance requirements.
• Experience applying the Protective Security Policy Framework, Information Security Manual and other relevant government security standards.
• Knowledge of zero-trust architecture and defence-in-depth security principles.
• Experience with key management systems, secrets management platforms, identity and access management, certificate management or Public Key Infrastructure.
• Experience designing integrations for CI/CD pipelines, container platforms, cloud services and enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with SFIA-aligned capabilities across solution architecture, enterprise and business architecture, systems design, emerging technology monitoring and stakeholder relationship management.

What’s on Offer

• An initial 12-month contract.
• Up to two 12-month extension options.
• Senior engagement at an EL2-equivalent level.

Security Requirements

• Candidates must hold a Positive Vetting security clearance.
• Applicants will be required to provide their citizenship status and current security clearance details as part of the submission process.
• Successful candidates will be required to complete an organisational suitability assessment before commencing.
