Senior Property Claims Consultant

MAYDAY Recruitment is excited to be partnering with a leading organisation within the insurance industry to recruit an experienced Senior Property Claims Specialist.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong claims professional who enjoys complex claims management, coaching and mentoring, and contributing to broader operational improvements. Working closely with the Team Leader, you will manage a focused portfolio of complex Strata claims while providing technical guidance and supporting the wider claims team.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Claims Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality claims outcomes while acting as a technical point of reference for the team. You will have the opportunity to combine your claims expertise with leadership responsibilities, stakeholder management and involvement in projects designed to improve claims processes and efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a focused portfolio of complex claims from notification through to resolution, ensuring appropriate outcomes and adherence to relevant policies and legislation.
• Assess complex claims using your technical expertise to determine appropriate strategies, resolutions and settlements.
• Work closely with policyholders, legal representatives, experts, service providers, insurers and brokers to progress claims effectively.
• Provide coaching, mentoring and technical guidance to claims team members, identifying training needs and supporting capability development.
• Review referrals prior to submission to the insurer, ensuring information is accurate, complete, consistent and presented to a high standard.
• Support the team with technical matters including scope of works, cost validation and identification of scope creep.
• Provide payment authorisations and undertake quality assurance reviews.
• Act as a Subject Matter Expert across claims projects, contributing to process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Support the Team Leader with day-to-day team responsibilities and step into leadership duties when required.
• Build strong relationships across internal functions including Underwriting, Compliance, Finance and Legal.
• Work collaboratively with external stakeholders including insurers, brokers, service providers and recoveries teams.

About You

We are looking for an experienced property claims professional who brings strong technical expertise and is ready to take the next step in their leadership journey.

You will ideally have:

• Demonstrated experience managing complex property claims with a high level of technical expertise.
• Strong knowledge and practical application of relevant insurance legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Experience coaching, mentoring and developing claims professionals.
• The confidence to influence and provide technical guidance to stakeholders outside of your direct reporting line.
• Strong commercial negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to manage competing priorities, work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy.
• Strong Microsoft Office and database skills.
• A collaborative, proactive and solutions-focused approach.
