Full-Time Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to join a busy and collaborative payroll team based in Broadmeadows.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a payroll professional with strong end-to-end payroll experience and proven leadership capabilities to step into a hands-on senior role.
You'll be responsible for supporting payroll operations, allocating work across the team, assisting with complex payroll matters and ensuring the accurate delivery of fortnightly payroll services.
Working within a high-volume environment, you'll provide guidance and support to payroll team members while maintaining exceptional customer service and compliance standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Allocate and coordinate work across the Payroll team to ensure priorities and deadlines are met.
• Provide guidance, support and training to Payroll Officers.
• Assist with complex payroll processes and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
• Process fortnightly payroll activities, including timesheet validation, data entry and payroll reconciliation.
• Ensure payroll data is accurate, balanced and compliant with relevant legislation and enterprise agreements.
• Maintain employee records, payroll documentation and electronic personnel files.
• Process onboarding, employee maintenance and termination transactions.
• Manage superannuation administration, including choice of fund requirements.
• Respond to payroll-related enquiries and provide high-quality customer service.
• Work closely with People & Culture and Finance teams to ensure payroll activities are completed accurately and on time.

About You 

• Demonstrated experience in a senior payroll position within a high-volume environment.
• Strong knowledge of end-to-end payroll processing.
• Experience leading, mentoring or allocating work within a payroll team.
• Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict deadlines.
• Strong customer service and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
• Sound understanding of payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and compliance requirements.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.

Essential Requirements

• Demonstrated experience using Chris21 payroll software.
• Experience processing payroll from timesheet receipt through to payroll reconciliation.
• Tertiary qualifications in Payroll, Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
• Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment.
