Role:
The Project Functional Safety (PFS) as a member of the system department, is responsible for assisting and ensuring that design and development are carried out in accordance with the company's Functional Safety (FuSa) methodology, based on the ISO26262 Functional Safety Standard.
Responsibilities:
- Identifies, plans, organizes, tracks and documents all necessary FuSa activities within a project.
- Ensures close cooperation with the R&D TPM (Technical Project Manager) and other FuSa resources in other sites or external contractors.
- Acts as a mentor/guide for product development FuSa activities.
- Ensures consistent tracking of all FuSa related activities.
- Organizes/prepares/supports/moderates FuSa activities and FuSa analysis.
- Ensures documentation of FuSa activities, establishes evidence of FuSa.
- Negotiates and agrees with the customer about the scope and common understanding of the FuSa requirements.
- Agrees on a Project Development Interface Agreement (DIA) for FuSa with the customer.
- Communicates and reviews with customers to ensure common understanding and agreement on FuSa implementation.
- Identifies FuSa requirements within the project based on Customer Requirements.
- Leads design analysis to support the development of safety case arguments for related developed products.
- Ensures the integration of the FuSa activities in the developed project based on the defined FuSa development plan.
- Leads hazard and risk analyses where necessary.
- Leads FuSa requirements and FuSa concepts for system/component.
- Supports the definition/specification of FuSa requirements for HW and SW architectures.
- Demonstrates how the chosen technical concept will comply with FuSa requirements.
- Collaborates with the design team for an effective technical solution to achieve adequate robustness at System, HW, and SW architectural level in compliance with ISO26262.
- Prepares and assists the Safety Assessment Reviews held by the safety assessor.
- Leads or participates in safety analysis processes (e.g. FMEAs, FTAs, FMEDAs, etc.).
- Defines the safety verification and validation activities.
- Creates the Safety Case for the product.
- Defines, tracks, and reports KPIs in his/her area of responsibility.
- Continuously identifies areas for improvement, defines measures, and ensures implementation in his/her area of responsibility.
- Functional reporting to System TPM (Technical Project Manager) and PL (Product Line) FuSa Discipline Manager.
Requirements
- Engineering Degree
- System and/or Software experience in Japan’s automotive industry (more than 3 years)
- Preferably FuSa management experience in the automotive industry
- Strong knowledge of ISO26262 Functional Safety Standard
- Strong knowledge of ASPICE
- Strong communication and interpersonal and reporting skills
- Strong technical presentation skills
- English: Business level fluent (Reading, writing and speaking)
- Japanese: Business level fluent (Reading, writing and speaking)
