About the Position

The school is seeking a Graduate VCE Legal Studies / Humanities Teacher for 2027.

This opportunity will suit a graduate who is confident in their Legal Studies and Humanities subject knowledge and genuinely interested in a more progressive approach to education. Teachers facilitate learning, encourage student agency and connect curriculum content with contemporary issues and real-world contexts.

Previous experience within a progressive school is not required; however, alignment with the school’s pedagogy and willingness to adapt teaching practice will be key considerations at interview.

Skills & Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging VCE Legal Studies and Humanities curriculum with strong attention to curriculum and assessment requirements.

  • Incorporate inquiry, projects, contemporary issues and real-world applications into student learning.

  • Maintain strong safeguarding, wellbeing and duty-of-care practices.

  • Support student agency and independent learning while maintaining clear expectations and academic rigour.

  • Collaborate with colleagues and communicate effectively with students, families and the broader school community.

Requirements to Apply

  • Completed or completing a relevant Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching, with appropriate Legal Studies and/or Humanities teaching methods.

  • Registration with or eligibility for the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).

  • Full Australian work rights.

  • Two professional referees and completion of HARKE’s onboarding and safeguarding requirements.

  • Genuine alignment with student-driven, inquiry and project-based learning.
