About the Company
South Australia Police (SAPOL) provides a diverse range of services to the community. These services are aimed at producing a safe and peaceful environment by the minimisation of crime and disorder. It is a large complex organisation which, because of the nature of its operations, is constantly subject to public scrutiny and accountability. It provides services to a range of different locations (over 100) spread across the State on a 24 hour a day basis.

Business Service provides corporate management of financial, asset and information resources and service delivery of expiation notice processing, exhibit property management, vehicle impounding and information release. Core functions of Business Service include:
 
  • Processing expiation notices issued by SAPOL members and outside agencies.
  • Financial management services.
  • Creating, maintaining, storing and releasing of information essential to SAPOL's mission of reducing crime and serving the community.
  • Management of SAPOL's physical assets including fleet, property and facilities.
  • Procurement and contract management services.
  • Service management of contractual arrangements between SAPOL and Shared Services SA in relation to payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable and taxation.

The Information Services Branch (INSB) consists of four Business Units as follows, the Data Management Unit, Freedom of Information Unit, Information Release Unit and the Records Management Unit.

Role Overview
The Information Manager is responsible for leading the delivery of efficient, compliant and high-quality records and information management services across SAPOL. Reporting to the Manager, Information Services Branch, this role ensures records, documents and systems are managed in line with the State Records Act 1997, while supporting operational and administrative functions through reliable information systems and expert advice. The position drives continuous improvement and transformation of records management practices, working closely with stakeholders across SAPOL and government to uplift capability, implement modern systems and ensure secure, accessible and well-governed information. As a senior leader, the role oversees the Records Management Unit, providing strategic direction, people leadership and operational oversight to deliver effective services aligned with organisational priorities.

Essential Requirements
  • Significant knowledge of records and information management principles, legislation, standards and policies
  • Proven ability to lead, manage and develop high-performing teams
  • Highly developed analytical skills with the ability to identify inefficiencies and implement effective solutions
  • Demonstrated experience in change management and delivering successful business improvement initiatives
  • Ability to operate in a dynamic environment, showing initiative, adaptability and innovation
  • Experience working at a strategic level, translating objectives into practical processes and systems
  • Proven experience managing complex records management and administrative systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of reports and briefings

  • The incumbent must hold a current Australian work eligibility status and will be subject to a criminal history check.
  • The incumbent may be assigned to other duties at this remuneration level or equivalent.
  • Some out of hours work and intra/interstate travel may be required.
  • The incumbent is required to participate in SAPOL’s iEngage program.

Salary
ASO8 - $125,649 – 130,392 + superannuation
