PQE Partners are working with a leading financial services organisation looking to hire a funds and investments lawyer to its Sydney legal team.
The role sits within an established legal function and will be the key legal position dedicated to supporting the organisation’s significant and active investment portfolio.
The team is ideally looking for someone around 3–7 PQE, although there is flexibility to consider a more senior lawyer, particularly someone seeking a four-day working week.

The role offers an unusual level of ownership. You will be the dedicated lawyer supporting the investments function, working directly with an experienced and close-knit investment leadership team, while still having the support of a broader legal team.
The scale and activity of the organisation’s investment portfolio also makes this a particularly interesting opportunity for someone who wants exposure comparable to a large institutional investor or superannuation fund, rather than a narrower financial services legal role.
There is flexibility around seniority and the team is open to considering an experienced lawyer seeking a four-day working week, subject to remuneration.

- Advise on a broad range of funds and investment management matters.
- Draft, negotiate and advise on investment management agreements and other investment-related documentation.
- Support investment transactions and associated regulatory matters.
- Advise on and manage FIRB applications.
- Manage investment-related disputes and smaller litigation matters, including working with external counsel where appropriate.
- Provide commercial and pragmatic advice directly to senior investment stakeholders.
- Support the broader legal team across related financial services matters as required.
Ideally, you will bring:
- Approximately 3–7+ years’ PQE in funds or investment management.
- Experience advising on investment management arrangements and transactions.
- Exposure to superannuation, life insurance or broader financial services would be advantageous.
- Strong commercial judgement and the confidence to work directly with senior stakeholders.
- The ability to work autonomously and take ownership of an investment-focused legal remit.
- Strong drafting, communication and relationship management skills.
