Enterprise Architect – Insurance Technology Transformation

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to lead the technology strategy and transformation agenda for a large-scale insurance business operating within a highly regulated financial services environment.

This role will be responsible for shaping the future-state architecture across core insurance platforms, digital customer journeys, distribution channels, and enterprise technology capabilities. The successful candidate will play a key role in modernizing legacy systems, driving cloud adoption, and enabling scalable, secure, and resilient technology solutions that support business growth and innovation.

This position is ideal for a senior architecture professional who combines deep insurance domain expertise with strong stakeholder management, enterprise governance, and transformation leadership capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

Enterprise Architecture & Strategy

• Define and maintain enterprise architecture roadmaps aligned with business and technology objectives.
• Develop target-state architectures across application, data, integration, and technology domains.
• Provide architectural leadership and governance for strategic transformation initiatives.
• Conduct architecture reviews and ensure alignment with enterprise standards, principles, and best practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to support future business capabilities.

Insurance Platform Modernization

• Lead the modernization and transformation of core insurance platforms and customer-facing systems.
• Drive architectural decisions related to policy administration, underwriting, claims, servicing, and distribution platforms.
• Support large-scale platform transformation, application modernization, and technology simplification initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to improve scalability, resiliency, security, and operational efficiency.

Cloud & Digital Transformation

• Lead cloud transformation initiatives, including migration and modernization of enterprise applications.
• Design cloud-native and platform-based solutions leveraging modern architecture patterns.
• Drive adoption of microservices, API-led integration, containerization, and DevOps practices.
• Define architecture patterns supporting digital channels, customer engagement, and automation initiatives.

Engineering Leadership & Governance

• Provide architectural oversight and technical guidance to engineering and delivery teams.
• Review solution designs and ensure adherence to enterprise architecture standards.
• Partner with engineering leaders to improve technology platforms, development practices, and delivery capabilities.
• Support implementation teams throughout the solution lifecycle from strategy through execution.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Collaborate closely with business executives, product owners, technology leaders, and delivery teams.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes and recommendations.
• Build alignment across multiple stakeholders while balancing strategic objectives with delivery needs.
• Influence technology direction across local, regional, and global teams.

Required Skills & Experience

• 12+ years of experience within Enterprise Architecture, Solution Architecture, or Technology Strategy roles.
• Strong insurance industry experience, with a solid understanding of:
• Policy Administration
• Claims Management
• Underwriting
• Customer Servicing
• Distribution and Sales Channels
• Digital Insurance Platforms
• Proven experience leading enterprise-wide transformation and modernization programmes.
• Strong background defining enterprise technology roadmaps and target-state architectures.
• Experience working within complex enterprise environments supporting large-scale business operations.
• Hands-on understanding of modern cloud platforms, including:
• AWS
• GCP
• Azure (advantageous)
• Strong knowledge of:
• Microservices Architecture
• API-Led Integration
• Event-Driven Architecture
• Container Platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS)

• Ability to provide technical leadership without being directly responsible for development activities.

Preferred Experience

• Experience within large insurance companies, financial institutions, or insurance technology organizations.
• Prior involvement in core insurance platform transformation programmes.
• Exposure to contact centre modernization, customer engagement platforms, or omnichannel servicing solutions.
• Familiarity with InsurTech trends and AI-enabled insurance use cases.
• Knowledge of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or equivalent enterprise architecture methodologies.
• Experience working across multiple countries or regional markets.
