Our client is a fast-growing, boutique asset management firm with a strong track record of absolute and risk-adjusted performance. Founded in late 2019 by former colleagues from a major global bank, the firm began operations in early 2021 and now has a team of nearly 40 professionals.
Headquartered in Hong Kong with an office in Sydney, the firm benefits from a strategic collaboration with a listed Hong Kong financial services company. Its investor base includes elite global institutions, foundations, pension funds, private banks, and family offices.
The Role:
Due to continued growth, the firm is seeking a Risk Manager to join its Risk team. This role works closely with the Investment team and is responsible for independent oversight of both investment and operational risk.
Key Responsibilities:

Maintain and enhance a robust risk framework aligned with firm policy.

Lead day-to-day operations of the Risk team.

Advise on appropriate investment risk limits for various strategies.

Supervise pre-trade and post-trade monitoring, including breach resolution.

Implement and review risk limits within the order management system.

Monitor risk profile consistency (including VaR) across funds and separately managed accounts.

Oversee counterparty risk and enhance proprietary credit monitoring tools.

Conduct periodic and ad-hoc risk reviews (e.g., best execution, TCA, due diligence).

Track performance across accounts and ensure GIPS compliance.

Prepare risk reports for the Risk Committee with actionable insights.

Handle short selling and investment-related regulatory reporting.

Perform operational risk assessments.

Represent the firm professionally with clients, partners, directors, and service providers.

Foster a firm-wide culture of risk awareness.
Candidate Profile:
Experience & Education:
-
7+ years in asset management, investment consulting, or securities, focusing on investment risk and analytics.

Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or related field.

Strong grasp of risk frameworks, methodologies, and controls.

Actuarial training, CFA, or FRM is a plus.

Strong numerical and statistical aptitude.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Adobe PDF).

Native English fluency (spoken and written).
