Our client is looking for an experienced Associate Arboricultural Consultant to join a growing national arboriculture and forestry team.
This is a senior opportunity for someone who wants to combine technical leadership, project delivery, commercial responsibility, team development and client management within a well-established multidisciplinary consultancy.
You’ll play an important role in delivering complex arboricultural projects, supporting the development of colleagues and helping to grow the wider arboriculture offering across the UK.
The Role
You will take responsibility for a varied portfolio of arboricultural commissions, working across major development, infrastructure and public sector projects.
Key responsibilities will include:

Leading complex arboricultural projects from initial scope through to delivery

Providing senior technical input across BS5837, EIA, DCO/NSIP, veteran and ancient trees, and construction-stage arboriculture

Reviewing technical reports and ensuring high standards of quality and consistency
-
Managing project budgets, programmes, scope and commercial risk
-
Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, local authorities and other stakeholders
-
Supporting bids, proposals and wider business development activity
-
Mentoring and supporting arboricultural consultants at different stages of their careers
-
Helping identify training requirements and technical development opportunities across the team
-
Working closely with ecology, landscape, biodiversity, GIS and other environmental specialists
-
Contributing to improved technical guidance, processes and best practice across the business
About You
Our client is looking for someone with substantial experience working within arboricultural consultancy and a strong track record of taking responsibility for complex projects.
You are likely to have experience in several of the following areas:

Major infrastructure or large-scale development projects
-
DCO, NSIP or EIA projects
-
BS5837 assessments and technical reporting
-
Public sector frameworks
-
Expert evidence or technically challenging commissions
-
Project and commercial management
-
Reviewing and signing off technical work
-
Client management and work winning
-
Mentoring, line management or technical training
Strong communication skills are essential, alongside the ability to explain technical arboricultural matters clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Desirable Experience
It would be particularly beneficial if you hold, or are working towards, a relevant professional accreditation such as:

MArborA
-
MICFor
-
CEnv
-
Chartered status or equivalent professional recognition
Experience working alongside areas such as ecology, Biodiversity Net Gain, landscape, climate resilience or GIS would also be advantageous.
