Production Manager - Packaging

Our client is a privately owned Australian manufacturer operating across multiple specialised manufacturing and packaging divisions, supplying products and services to highly regulated industries including pharmaceutical, personal care, healthcare and consumer goods sectors.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Production Manager will take responsibility for leading the day-to-day manufacturing operations across the site.
This role is ideally suited to a hands-on production leader who enjoys coaching people, driving performance and implementing practical operational improvements.
Key responsibilities include:

• Leading daily production activities across multiple manufacturing operations
• Managing and developing 4 Team Leaders and approximately 30 production employees
• Driving achievement of production schedules, customer delivery targets and operational KPIs
• Championing a strong safety-first culture through leadership, engagement and accountability
• Conducting daily toolbox meetings, utilising visual management boards, and driving clear communication across production teams
• Monitoring labour utilisation, productivity and manufacturing performance
• Working with ERP systems (NetSuite or equivalent) to support production planning, scheduling and resource allocation
• Ensuring compliance with quality, customer and regulatory requirements
• Identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives across production processes
• Building team capability through coaching, training and succession planning
• Supporting future growth through operational excellence and scalable manufacturing practices

This is a Monday to Friday position operating on a single day shift from 7:00am - 3:00pm.
 
About You
To be successful, you will bring:

• Proven experience as a Production Manager within a manufacturing environment
• Strong leadership experience managing medium-sized production teams
• A track record of developing people and building high-performing teams
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Strong focus on safety, quality and operational performance
• Experience within primary or secondary packaging / contract manufacturing, supplying into plastics, pharmaceutical, personal care, food manufacturing or related industries
• Ideally, experience gained within a smaller or growing manufacturing business, where you've developed a broad operational skillset, worn multiple hats and thrived in an agile, hands-on environment
• Exposure to ERP systems (NetSuite or equivalent) and production planning platforms
• A practical, hands-on leadership style with a continuous improvement mindset
• The ability to operate autonomously and make sound operational decisions

You will be a self-starter who enjoys motivating teams, solving problems and driving improvement while respecting established processes and culture. This role will suit someone who is comfortable balancing strategic leadership with rolling up their sleeves to support the operation whenever required.
