Development Engineer

Aspect Personnel is seeking an experienced Senior Development Engineer to join a progressive regional Victorian council. This is an excellent opportunity for a civil engineer with experience in development engineering, subdivision assessment and planning referrals to contribute to the delivery of quality development outcomes across a growing municipality.

Based in south-west Victoria, this role offers an outstanding regional lifestyle with the Great Ocean Road, the Otway Ranges and vibrant regional communities all within easy reach.

Working closely with Planning, Infrastructure and Operations, you will provide specialist engineering advice to support development across the municipality while ensuring new developments meet Council standards and legislative requirements. You will collaborate with developers, consultants, contractors, service authorities and internal stakeholders to facilitate quality development outcomes and protect Council's infrastructure assets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide engineering advice on strategic and statutory planning referrals.
• Assess subdivision engineering plans, drainage, pavement designs and associated documentation.
• Review applications and approvals for developments affecting Council assets.
• Process Works Within Road Reserve, Legal Point of Discharge and other engineering permits.
• Liaise with developers, consultants, contractors, service authorities and the community.
• Undertake inspections relating to road openings, asset protection and vehicle crossings.
• Provide advice on drainage, traffic management and development engineering matters.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the Road Management Act 2004.

You will have:

• Degree qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in development engineering, preferably within local government.
• Strong knowledge of subdivision engineering, drainage and development assessment.
• Understanding of Victorian planning processes and relevant legislation.
