About the Role

The AMI Test Analyst is responsible for planning, executing, and documenting testing activities across the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) ecosystem, ensuring the quality and reliability of smart metering platforms, grid technologies, communications networks, and integrated business systems. The role supports functional, integration, device, and meter data testing while collaborating with project teams, vendors, and business stakeholders to deliver compliant, high-quality AMI and smart grid solutions with minimal business risk.


Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end testing activities across the AMI ecosystem, including test planning, execution, defect management, documentation, and quality assurance for smart metering and smart grid technologies. Perform functional, integration, system, regression, UAT, device, and meter data validation testing to ensure compliance with business, operational, and regulatory requirements. Support testing of AMI platforms, Head-End Systems, smart meters, communications networks, IoT devices, and field technologies, while validating system integrations, data quality, and end-to-end business processes. Drive test automation and continuous improvement initiatives, collaborate with project teams, vendors, and stakeholders, and provide clear reporting on testing progress, risks, and deployment readiness.


About You

Essential

· Strong understanding of AMI and Smart Grid technologies, including smart meters, communications networks, HES and related systems.
· Familiarity with AMI vendor platforms and ecosystems such as Itron UIQ, Landis+Gyr Command Centre/Emerge, or equivalent AMI solutions.
· Knowledge of software and systems testing methodologies, including test planning, execution, defect management and reporting.
· Understanding of communication technologies and protocols including RF Mesh related network communications.
· Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear test documentation and reports.
· Ability to work effectively with stakeholders, vendors and project teams.

Desirable

· Knowledge of AMI 2.0 technologies and architectures.
· Understanding of electricity metering, distribution networks and utility operations.
· Understanding of smart meter firmware, meter programming and device configuration management.
· Familiarity with AMI application suites and supporting applications such as CAAS, AMM, FWU, FSU-SAM, Gridscape, HCM, MPC, Network Centre, ODS and Sensor IQ.
· Familiarity with test automation frameworks, scripting languages and API testing.
· Knowledge of smart lighting, IoT and operational technology environments.
· Knowledge of cybersecurity principles applicable to AMI and Smart Grid systems.
