GCP & ML Optimisation Consultant – Fraud / Machine Learning / $100-120k P/M

Contract: Until end of 2026 (possibility to extend)

We are partnering with a leading financial services organisation looking for a highly experienced GCP & ML Optimisation Consultant to assess and optimise its fraud detection and machine learning environment.

This is an outcome-focused consulting assignment combining Google Cloud engineering, ML platform optimisation and fraud modelling. The consultant will conduct hands-on technical analysis and provide implementation-ready recommendations to reduce infrastructure and ML run costs while improving model performance, inference efficiency and platform reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess and optimise Google Cloud infrastructure across compute, storage and networking, identifying opportunities to reduce run costs while improving performance and resilience.
• Analyse existing fraud and machine learning models, supporting optimisation across model development, validation, deployment and inference.
• Review and optimise end-to-end ML and data pipelines, including ingestion, transformation, feature engineering/serving, training and inference.
• Identify measurable opportunities to reduce compute consumption, improve inference speed and increase automation.
• Develop and tune large-scale batch and streaming workloads, using Spark or similar distributed processing technologies.
• Provide practical configuration-level and code-level recommendations that can be implemented by engineering and data teams.
• Improve monitoring and observability across cost, performance, reliability and ML workloads.
• Apply strong software engineering practices across Python, SQL, CI/CD, automated testing and modular development.
• Partner closely with infrastructure, engineering, data science and fraud stakeholders to translate findings into clear implementation plans.
• Produce recommendations showing expected implementation effort, cost impact and potential savings.

Requirements

• Senior Consultant / Principal-level profile with ideally 20+ years of relevant technology, engineering, data or consulting experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and cloud infrastructure optimisation.
• Proven experience optimising machine learning platforms, models and production ML workloads.
• Experience within fraud detection, financial crime, payments, banking or related ML use cases highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of ML pipelines covering training, feature engineering, deployment and inference.
• Strong experience with Python and SQL.
• Experience with large-scale data processing technologies such as Spark or similar.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and deliver measurable cloud, compute or ML cost savings.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work across infrastructure, engineering, data science and business teams.
• PhD-level academic background preferred, particularly within Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Mathematics or a related discipline.

Advantageous Experience

• Experience working with Feedzai, including integration, implementation, performance tuning or production operationalisation.
• Previous consulting experience conducting technical assessments and presenting recommendations to senior stakeholders.
• Experience optimising high-volume, low-latency fraud or transaction-processing platforms.
