Position Summary
The Quality Engineer II directly supports the Quality Manager in embracing key departmental objectives geared towards overall customer satisfaction. The Quality Engineer works within the quality team to ensure the overall quality of a manufactured product and is tasked with creating documentation, devising quality tests and defining the criteria a test result should meet. Plays a key role in resolving issues when they arise.

Essential Functions
• AS9100 involvement and internal & external auditing
• Corrective action coordination and in-depth root cause analysis
• Customer and supplier interaction (e.g. program management reviews, supplier audits, customer audits)
• Monitoring and use of customer databases
• Lean Enterprise and Lean Manufacturing tools
• Use of Statistical tools
• DPPM daily monitoring and countermeasures
• First Article Inspection IAW AS9102
• Process problem solving and improvement
• Involvement with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) process
• Reliability (MTBF, MTBUR) calculations
• Failure Reporting and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) analysis and reporting
• Develop product Inspection plans/Control plans
• Material Review Board (MRB) membership
• Oversight and coordination of tool/equipment calibration
• Other responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications
• Bachelor degree (required) in Engineering or a Quality-related technical discipline (preferred)
• Certifications: ASQ CQA, CQE beneficial
• Minimum 5 years electrical and/or mechanical engineering experience in a manufacturing setting with a minimum 5 years' experience in a Quality-related position preferred
• Analytical skills – need to be able to spot problems quickly and find the underlying causes so changes can be made
• Critical thinking – once problems are identified, solutions and improvements must be found. This might involve thinking about a process, procedure or problem in a completely new way.
• Attention to detail – as the people responsible for the creation and implementation of quality systems, as well as the people who notice and report on problems, every detail must be noticed and acted upon when necessary
• Numerical skills – statistical analysis can be a big part of a quality engineering role
• Communications skills – strong written and verbal communication skills are key. Must be able to relay potentially complex ideas to a wide range of audiences – both in personal consultations but also through company SOPs and quality documentation. Ability to effectively handle significant inquiries and/or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, and third party auditors
• Team working skills – working as part of the quality team, and in close coordination with other teams throughout the manufacturing facility (as well as potential for interaction with suppliers and customers) is a key part of quality engineering
• Working knowledge of inspection techniques, procedures, instruments, etc.
• Working knowledge of SPC, DOE, Lean Manufacturing, FMEA, and Six Sigma
• Experience with and demonstrated understanding of AS9100 / ISO9001 requirements
• Previous experience with printed circuit board electronics (preferred)
• Familiarity with J-STD and IPC standards (preferred)
• Experience with FAA regulatory requirements (14 CFR parts 21, 43, 65,120, & 145)
• Proficient using Microsoft Office products, databases, and MRP system
