Principal Consultant - Financial Services

• Partner directly with C-suite, executive sponsors and steering committees on complex financial services transformation.
• Lead consulting engagements while shaping solutions, proposals, SOWs and commercial conversations.

Davidson Technology Consulting is growing, and we are looking for a Principal Consultant to join our Sydney team, with a focus on supporting clients across the financial services sector.

This is a senior client-facing role for someone who can lead quality consulting delivery, work confidently with executive stakeholders and support the continued growth of Davidson Technology Consulting in the Sydney market.

The role has two clear dimensions: delivery and pre-sales support.

You will lead and contribute to consulting engagements across technology transformation, project delivery, governance, delivery assurance, business case development, roadmaps, business analysis and related technology consulting work. You will also support business development activity by helping shape client solutions, draft proposals and contribute to commercial conversations.

What you’ll be responsible for

As Principal Consultant, you will:

• Lead and deliver consulting engagements in line with agreed client outcomes, scope, timeframes and quality expectations.
• Work with clients to understand business challenges and translate them into practical technology, transformation and delivery solutions.
• Produce high-quality consulting outputs, including business cases, roadmaps, governance packs, delivery plans, quality reviews, SteerCo materials and executive-level recommendations.
• Support the delivery of large-scale transformation programs, including areas such as data migrations, testing, delivery assurance and program governance.
• Lead or support engagements involving transformation design, business analysis, technology delivery, operating model change and implementation readiness.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior stakeholders, including executive sponsors, C-suite leaders and steering committee members.
• Lead client governance forums, delivery reviews and stakeholder discussions with confidence and professionalism.
• Guide and support Davidson consultants or project team members to ensure quality, consistency and strong client outcomes.
• Identify delivery risks, issues and opportunities, and provide clear recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
• Support pre-sales activity by contributing to solution design, proposal development, statements of work, client presentations and commercial discussions.
• Help strengthen Davidson Technology Consulting’s presence in the Sydney financial services market through strong delivery, trusted relationships and repeat client engagement.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for an experienced principal-level consultant who have:

• 8–10+ years’ experience in consulting, technology delivery, transformation or professional services environments.
• Strong experience delivering consulting engagements within financial services, ideally across banking, insurance, wealth, superannuation or related regulated environments.
• Established relationships within the Sydney financial services market, built through previous consulting or delivery work in the sector.
• Experience delivering engagements such as large-scale transformation programs, transformation design, business case development, roadmap development, business analysis, technology delivery, data migration, testing, project assurance or delivery governance.
• Strong experience working directly with senior client stakeholders, including executives, sponsors and steering committees.
• A track record of producing high-quality consulting outputs in complex client environments, including executive-ready materials, recommendations and delivery artefacts.
• Experience supporting pre-sales activity, including proposals, solution development, statements of work or client presentations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create clear, structured and practical client-facing materials.
• A practical, outcome-focused consulting style and a strong commitment to quality delivery.
