STAFF GRADE OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Job Type: Permanent | Full-Time

I’m currently recruiting for a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist to join an established multidisciplinary service in Portarlington.

This is a great opportunity for an OT who wants to work in a role where they can have a genuine impact on the independence, quality of life and day-to-day experiences of the people they support.

The role would suit an Occupational Therapist with an interest in working with individuals with intellectual disabilities and/or autism, and who enjoys a varied caseload rather than a purely clinic-based role.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

You’ll provide a high-quality Occupational Therapy service across assessment, intervention and ongoing support. Your work will include:

• Completing comprehensive OT assessments looking at functional ability, sensory processing, motor skills, cognition and independence in daily activities.

• Developing and implementing individualised OT intervention plans based around the person’s needs and goals.

• Supporting people to develop greater independence in areas such as self-care, daily living, mobility and participation in their home and community.

• Assessing environments and recommending appropriate adaptations, equipment and assistive technology where required.

• Providing advice and practical guidance to families, carers and frontline staff so that OT recommendations can be embedded into everyday support.

• Working closely with a multidisciplinary team and contributing OT expertise to reviews, case conferences and care planning.

• Supporting the development and supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistants.

• Completing clear clinical documentation, professional reports and risk assessments in line with best practice and clinical governance.

• Contributing to Assessment of Need processes and multidisciplinary assessments where appropriate.

• Taking an active role in service development, clinical audits and maintaining high professional standards.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We’re looking for an Occupational Therapist who is:

• CORU registered and eligible to work as an Occupational Therapist in Ireland.

• Ideally has 1+ years’ post-qualification experience.

• Interested in working with people with intellectual disabilities and/or autism.

• Confident carrying out functional and clinical assessments and developing person-centred intervention plans.

• Comfortable providing advice and support to families, carers and frontline staff.

• A strong communicator who enjoys working as part of a multidisciplinary team.

• Organised, self-motivated and confident managing their own caseload.

• Committed to delivering evidence-based, person-centred Occupational Therapy.
