Chief Engineer (Mechanical)

Overview:

• The primary focus is on heavy vehicle, trucks and other Industrial applications.
• This position leads internal departments and global project teams as the main focus point of contact.
• Products are engine related.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Partnering with sales, to identify business opportunities by technical promotion to help expand this division
• Manage relationships with customer, external technical partners, and key suppliers.
• Manage/monitor/authorize engineering activity to ensure product performance/durability through design review board with engineering documents such as, design input, FMEA, Design Validation Plan and related engineering documents including drawing to be released.
• Plan and coordinate/organize required engineering resource for projects and required engineering tasks including negotiation with overseas engineering center in case internal engineering resource is not enough.
• Act as representative of engineering department for any negotiation internally, or outside the company.
• Support engineers for high level technical communications especially for overseas.

Requirements

• More than 10 years of engineering experience is required, including line management of engineering team members
• Bachelor degree engineering required. Advanced / Masters degree or training is desirable.
• Powertrain/engine related technical knowledge is preferred.
• Must be able to work as part of a team in a fast paced, global organization.
• Native Japanese language and fluent English language skills required
