Technical Writer

Our client is looking for Technical Writer in Melbourne on contract basis. This role focused on bringing SME inspection and test plans and standard operating procedures into one controlled library. You will work alongside site teams to capture how work is actually performed, then turn those methods into clear, repeatable documents with defined inspection points, evidence requirements and acceptance criteria. The role also produces the registers, checklists and forms those documents depend on, and hands over an indexed and maintainable library at the end of the engagement.

Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities

• Write and format inspection and test plans to a single agreed SME standard.
• Build the master ITP library so that inspection points, evidence requirements and acceptance criteria are consistent across projects.
• Interview site teams to capture how tasks are actually performed.
• Convert proven work methods into standard operating procedures with named owners, revision control and review dates.
• Source acceptance criteria from project specifications, drawings and Australian Standards, and quote the values within the document.
• Tailor generic ITPs and SOPs to contract requirements and project risks ahead of mobilisation.
• Apply document numbering, revision control and approval workflow so that every document is traceable.
• Maintain the document register and keep superseded versions clearly marked.
• Incorporate review comments from the Quality Manager, engineering and site supervision.
• Update ITPs and SOPs when non-conformances and lessons learned identify a gap.
• Prepare supporting material such as visual work guides and pre-start aids where they improve uptake on site.

Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience in technical writing, documentation or procedure development.
• Construction Industry General Safety Induction (White Card), or willingness to obtain one before attending site.
• Current Australian driver’s licence, with the ability to travel between project sites.
