Apply directAt ConnectedGroup, we are supporting an international non-profit organization in the search for their Director of Communications, Community Engagement and Fundraising.
Reporting into senior leadership, the Director will lead communications, fundraising, digital engagement and outreach functions, ensuring they work together to strengthen public awareness, stakeholder trust and long-term support. This person will provide strategic direction across multiple teams, oversee reputation and engagement initiatives, and drive audience growth and fundraising performance. The position requires a seasoned Cantonese and English-speaking leader who can align diverse stakeholders, guide senior managers and represent the organisation externally when needed.
Responsibilities
- Lead the organisation’s engagement, communications, fundraising, outreach and digital functions, ensuring they operate as a coordinated portfolio with shared priorities and measurable outcomes.
- Develop and oversee strategies that strengthen public awareness, stakeholder trust and long-term support for the organisation’s mission
- Provide direction on fundraising performance, supporter engagement and audience growth, ensuring activities are aligned across communications, digital channels and community outreach initiatives.
- Act as the organisation’s primary spokesperson and lead communications planning during sensitive or high-profile issues, protecting reputation and ensuring consistent messaging.
- Oversee digital engagement strategy, ensuring effective use of data, analytics and technology to improve audience engagement, supporter conversion and retention.
- Guide outreach programmes, events and external engagement activities to build relationships with key audiences and generate meaningful participation and support.
- Manage budgets, forecasting and resource allocation across the engagement portfolio, ensuring investments are aligned with strategic priorities and performance expectations.
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of functional leaders, fostering collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with senior leadership and internal stakeholders to support organisational priorities, resolve competing demands and drive effective decision-making.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or other relevant areas.
- Extensive leadership experience in communications, public relations, fundraising, marketing, stakeholder engagement, digital strategy, or related fields.
- Experience working or volunteering in a non-profit environment.
- Proven ability to lead multiple teams through senior leaders and drive successful outcomes.
- Strong understanding of corporate reputation, stakeholder relations and external communications, including handling sensitive issues or crises.
- Experience managing fundraising, revenue growth or audience development initiatives, with a focus on performance and return on investment.
- Ability to turn organisational goals into clear strategies, priorities and measurable plans.
- Strong business, financial and analytical skills, including budgeting, forecasting and resource management.
- Effective leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to align teams around common objectives.
- Comfortable working in a mission-driven organisation while balancing operational, ethical and reputational considerations.
- Strong communication and presentation skills in English and Cantonese (Mandarin an advantage), with the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders and represent the organisation externally.
